An Ohio couple have been ordered to remove a zombie themed nativity scene from their front garden after local zoning officials and religious groups took offence.
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/08/us/zombie-nativity-scene-cincinnati.htmlJasen and Amanda Dixon built the first version of their unconventional nativity display a year ago in Sycamore Township Cincinatti as a publicity stunt to publicise a haunted house attraction they were running nearby.
The composition includes undead wise men, mother Mary, and a razor-fanged zombie baby Jesus in the straw manger, with a sinister version of 'Silent Night' playing over a sound system. At night rainbow-coloured lights showcase the scene
The problems began last year when local officials said the couple did not have a permit to construct the spooky display. Ms. Dixon said that they thought they were in compliance this year. But their permit application was declined, and she said they could face a fee of $500 a day.
As word of the structure spread — and supporters made the point that, technically, Jesus rose from the dead — a local religious group dropped a pamphlet at the zombie baby Jesus’ feet.
“God frowns upon this manger scene,” the pamphlet read. “Jesus has supreme power over death and evil; he is not a zombie.”
