RIP Obvious Leo

His always lively challenges to orthodox physics, and his theory on the primary role of time, may be found in various PCF threads and also in an extended essay at Dragonfly's web pages here...

I will miss his inventive and inquisitive mind and his personal warmth and humor. Long live Johann, in whatever orthogonal dimensions he may find himself in!

I have greatly enjoyed his contribution to three different forums.
One of my favourite people.
I suppose, at my age, one expect to lose favourite people.
This year, my world has been much diminished.

When I first joined this site, Leo was the one that caught my attention immediately. Such a wonderfully clever, creative, gentle, and witty man. Wish I'd had the pleasure of knowing him personally.

Leo worked on his theory and/or spread it forth night and day on many philosophy forums, hardly ever sleeping.

It's bloody obvious! Johann (Obvious Leo) will be missed by all who knew him.

Farewell, mate.

He was only 61? What a shame. I always liked him(He was a very nice person here, and I believe he was probably the same off the forum), and enjoyed reading his many posts here. RIP Johann...our "Obvious Leo".

Yes, RIP Leo.

His pet theory, which he couldn't support but persistently pushed, got him banned here in the long run. But as a person, I always found him quite interesting, intelligent and a fun person to have around.

Best wishes for him in his next life.

As a mod who'd supported Leo's ban, I'd wanted to express condolences here without finding the right words. I think that Dave did well; whatever the academic disagreements, Leo was a human being who always seemed full of passion.

Human life is too short, and at age 61, Leo's passing was all too soon. That said, given Leo's energy, I'd like to think that he lived quite a bit in the time that he had.

Hi Guys,

Just noticed that Leo's status was changed from "Banned User" to "Resident Member" recently. That was nice of someone in retrospect.. or was that simply respect?

Just curious as always..

I hope it's an invitation.
How interesting would it be to hear Leo's take on the Other Side?
Here's to a gentleman and a scholar!

I may have been the one who removed the ban following the news about his passing (unless I merely thought anout it and somebody else beat me to it). I didn't know him much, but it seemed like enough people liked and appreciated him. Since whatever got him banned is no longer a threat, I felt like it was the respectful thing to do.

I just checked the logs and indeed I only thought about/imagined doing it. BiV was in fact the one who pushed the button. You can always count on BiV to do the classy thing. Thanks BiV.
