National Emoji Day

Postby toucana on July 17th, 2019, 2:07 am

Good morning. It’s National Emoji Day today.

Why ? Well if you examine the emoji symbol for a ‘calendar’ you will discover that it says July 17.

There are around 2800 internationally recognised emoji symbols in use today, each with an assigned Unicode value. But as Keith Broni who was hired as the world’s first offical translator of emoji has pointed out, you may discover that emoji don’t always mean quite what you think they mean in different parts of the world:-

Get Well Soon - means a brothel in Japan

If they changed brothel to broth, that would make considerably more sense.
