Now we see what happened when Trump visited the Middle East.

I don't have much I want to say about this, just wanted to point it out.

One of the odder unforeseen consequences of the blockade imposed on Qatar by its neighbours has been to cause an immediate world-wide shortage of Helium gas.

https://www.gasworld.com/qatar-blockade-threatens-to-disrupt-helium-supply/2012916.article

Qatar normally supplies around 32% of the world's 6 billion cubic feet demand for Helium gas from two production plants in Ras Laffan industrial city. The containers of Helium gas are normally taken overland by trucks from Qatar through Saudi Arabia and onto the seaport of Jebel Ali in the UAE for onward shipping abroad. These routes are now closed by the current blockade, and the Ras Laffan gas plants have been shut down and are no longer producing Helium.

Alternative container shipping facilities from the seaport at Doha the Qatari capital are too small and underdeveloped at present to carry the volume of shipping that would be required.

Helium is a key product with many worldwide scientific and industrial uses. The most important ones are probably related to cryogenics and technologies that depend on it such as liquid Helium cooled superconducting magnets. MRI scanners in major hospitals are one example of systems that depend on Helium.

The town in Kansas my parents are mainly from is near some major helium fields. They will probably try to ramp up production. One time, there was a major leak, and everyone walked around talking like Alvin and the Chipmunks.*

* this sentence contains "alternative facts."

* and bad science...helium would not accumulate at ground level

* so Trump would totally believe me
