Gene Editing

What's the potential for this being used as a weapon? Obviously it depends on how easy it is to access but say it was in your local pharmacy and you got a script for it then gave it to someone you wanted to harm in their food... not to mention bio weapons.

Could probably come up with at least a dozen other negatives about how this technology would be used wrong. Another case where technology might be ahead of human intelligence. I'm all for advancing this kind of research but I'm against actually using it until years of ethical boards have been consulted and experimenting on highly controlled numbers of people have been done.

Extremely overhyped technology. And it’s very tedious to apply. You can’t take a pill and knock out a gene to cure yourself of something (or to give someone something). You need a lot of infrastructure to do this kind of thing - at least to do it efficiently.

Your question is valid though, independent of the exact technological vehicle.
