AP have released some audio recording samples of the alleged sonic attacks experienced by US and Canadian diplomats in Cuba that have recently led to the US government shutting down operations and withdrawing staff from Havana.

At least 22 diplomats and embassy staff are claimed to have suffered hearing problems and various other forms of sensory disorientation as a result of what are deemed to be targeted sonic attacks of unknown origin.

The recordings released by AP which are said to be safe to listen to at normal volume levels on home computers or phones consist of high frequency chirping noises like masses of crickets, or some say, fingernails being scratched on blackboards.

A number of these recordings have been passed to the US Navy which has specialised resources for analysing unusual audio and sonar traces, but they have declined to make any public comment so far.

When studied with a spectrum analyser, the recording released by AP appears to have amplitude spikes involving at least 20 different frequencies, mostly at high pitches of around 18KHz to 19KHz which is on the upper limit of the human hearing range for many adults.

You can experiment with an online tone generator for comparison:

This may represent only part of what is being heard. Ultrasound frequencies above 20KHz can be detected by many animals such as dogs and cats which can hear up to 45KHz tones, while bats navigate by using echo-location squeaks of 100KHz or more.

It is also possible to stimulate the perception of ‘ghost tones’ by playing high frequency sine waves whose frequencies are set at certain ratios. These can produce sum or difference tones involving a ‘Missing Fundamental’ which are sometimes known as ‘Tartini Tones’.

The fact that some victims of these sonic attacks only experience the effects in very precise locations such as the corner of one particular room raises the possibility that a highly directional hypersound beam technology is being deployed where an ultrasound signal is projected and the presence of a human head provokes a destructive frequency interference in the beam that drops the frequency down into the audible range in the immediate vicinity of the ears.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A new report by a National Academy of Sciences committee has found that “directed” microwave radiation is the likely cause of illnesses among American diplomats in Cuba and China.

The study commissioned by the State Department and released Saturday is the latest attempt to find a cause for the mysterious illnesses that started to emerge in late 2016 among U.S. personnel in Havana.

The study found that “directed, pulsed radio frequency energy appears to be the most plausible” explanation for symptoms that included intense head pressure, dizziness and cognitive difficulties. It found this explanation was more likely than other previously considered causes such as tropical disease or psychological issues. The study did not name a source for the energy and did not say it came as the result of an attack, though it did note that previous research on this type of injury was done in the former Soviet Union... ... 6f272d781c
