Lethal Chinese Bus Crash Caused By Fight With Driver

Postby toucana on November 2nd, 2018, 11:52 am

A bus crash that killed 15 people in China last Sunday was caused by a fight between the driver and a female passenger who had missed her stop according to CCTV footage recovered from the wreck.

The deadly crash which was also filmed on a dashcam recorder from another vehicle, took place while the bus was driving on a high bridge over the Yangtze river in the Wanzhou district of Chongqing in south western China. Large numbers of Chinese people have been following news coverage of the accident ever since, and watching live TV broadcasts of the attempts to recover the wreckage from the bed of the Yangtze river. There had been much shock and puzzlement as to quite how such an accident could have occurred, until the security CCTV was recovered and analysed.

According to the Chongqing Public Security Bureau, a 48 year old woman called Liu had missed her stop and was berating the driver for ignoring her demands for him to stop the bus and let her off. The video shows her beating the driver around the head with her mobile phone, at which point the distracted bus driver lost control, and the bus veered off the roadway, smashed through guard-rails, and plunged off the bridge into the river 164 feet below.
