Feb 12 Mystery Microscope Picture

That first one was way too easy! Kluge guessed right away that it was a shell and it is, indeed, a snail shell. I'm not going to be so easy on you this time. It is, again, at 40x. You have two weeks to guess what this is:

I think that Bio's probably right.

Out of curiosity, when something's 40x zoomed in, does this mean that the area is 40x or each dimension (height and width) is 40x?

It means I used a 40x magnification lens to shoot the picture.

I'll go with some kind of foam surface--nerf football? (Or are these all going to be organic?)

They will not all be organic. I don't want to give hints unless I think people are really stuck, so maybe if no one has gotten anything by Saturday, I will give a hint.

Although Lincoln came close, the actual answer is: Pumpkin seed. New mystery pic coming in a few minutes.

Woot! Hey, can you post a 1-5 X of the mystery pic after you reveal it? I think it would be cool to see the mystery zoom in context!

I cannot, I no longer have the samples and I usually have to trim them into tiny pieces to fit them onto the stage anyway. Sorry.
