We see Donald Trump’s embrace of the Confederacy yet again today, hoisting the Confederate flag .. the Confederate battle flag, it really is his campaign banner now in a fundamental way. What we see with Trump now is that he is historically the second president of the Confederacy. This is exactly what the George Wallace presidency would have looked like. It would have been one of incitement and one of division.
One of the great tragedies for the Republican party which was founded in 1854 is that it was the party of the North and the West that has now become so deeply rooted in the old Confederacy in the south, where the symbols of the fallen south have become the symbols of the Republican party, and it’s historically tragic.
So I think that when you see Donald Trump’s divisions and incitements, the American people are rejecting it. They’re rejecting it all over the country, and you look demographically at how the country is changing - it’s just a death knell for the Republican party as they alienate literally everybody except white males over the age of 70 which are the hard-core steadfast part of Trump’s base as it continues to shrink under pressure from his incompetent performance and divisiveness in the country, and people are saying “We can’t do this for four more years”.

Just to underline the point, president Trump has announced that he now plans to hold his first re-election campaign rally for several months in Tulsa Oklahoma on the date that African Americans celebrate the end of slavery.

This will be on 19th June which is known as Juneteenth and is widely celebrated by African Americans as the date of the reading of the Emancipation Proclamation on 19th June 1865 in Texas, the very last of the secessionist slave holding states to receive the Proclamation and formally abolish slavery.
The choice of Tulsa is especially controversial because between May and June of 1921 it was the location of a series of infamously violent race riots in the black neighbourhood of Greenwood where ramapaging white lynch mobs ran amok with guns and explosives, killing up to 300 people and destroying about 1000 businesses and homes.
