Georgia governor sues to stop Atlanta mask mandate

Postby Sisyphus on July 17th, 2020, 5:54 pm

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp sued Thursday to stop Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms from mandating masks be worn in the city to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The legal actions comes after prominent Democratic mayors in the state pledged to challenge an executive order by Kemp barring local mask mandates. Bottoms defiantly declared, “I am not afraid of the city being sued.”

Apparently not wearing a mask is a "freedom" but not wearing pants is a crime.

Yet the former is demonstrably a greater threat to public health than the latter.

As for Kemp's suit, it presumes facts completely unevidenced, viz. that a mask mandate would cause businesses to be shuttered. A compelling case is made for the opposite, which is that most customers feel safer in a shop that requires masks and ergo more likely to visit. This seems to be more about ideological derangement than any genuine concern for the well-being of Georgians.
