What animation software could get the job done? Let's say that I have script storyboards and everything ready and we just need animation for a broadcast quality half-hour show, what software could animate a whole show (Simpsons/Futurama style animation) in about a day's time?

We made a 3 minute clip, which was a demo for a possible bigger project. It was pretty good quality animation, but not awesome. Total cost $100k and many months of work.

As an aside, futurama episodes apparently take most of a year to make (and are done in South Korea, not China).

Just editing together a half hour show, without any animation, takes a few weeks in my experience. Of course, this is in the context of film classes (back in high school.) With the animation, things take a considerably longer amount of time.

If you're a student with an email account that ends with ".edu", then you can get Microsoft Expression Studio 4 Ultimate for free.

Not sure if you can actually make videos with it or if it just helps manage 'em.
