Looks at how Hubbert's concept of peak oil has been modified by unconventional deposits. This article has elements of both comfort and fright in some of its implications. It might mean we have more time to develop alternative energy without the Damoclean sword of petro-collapse over our heads. But it also could mean a lot more greenhouse gas pumped into the sky before a clean fuel transition is complete. And a lot more messy tar sands kind of extraction getting there.
