Ancient Spider Fossil

Recently I found an article about a fossilized species of a spider from 305 million years ago.
This is quite an entreating piece

I wonder why they say it isn't a spider, that it only very nearly is. All they have is a rock fossil. I wonder what makes this thing "not a spider"?

I think because it lacked spinnerets. They say they did some detailed X-raying to confirm it didn't have any.

lack of spinnerettes is why. tho I dont know why one missing part makes it not a spider. kinda like saying that a dog with three legs is not a dog cuz it doest have 4 legs.
