Things have been put in a wee bit of perspective, eh? I also recall some on the right wing hyperventilating when Obama put his feet up on his desktop, in the Oval Office.

I don't think the code switching was too hard to detect. You can't come right out and say, "I don't like seeing a black man in the White House." But apparently you can question his wardrobe choices, foot positioning, religious devotion, foreign-sounding name, and of course birth certificate. In fact you can construct a party platform which incorporates a good deal of that code switching and get elected President - by the Electoral College, anyway.
