I guess this guy is on a few alt right shit-lists.
There is an old Hungarian saying: "Tell the truth, they'll crack your skull."
That's why MSM doesn't, except for a few low-key talk programs on public television and radio that nobody watches, except the people who already know. The commercial ones can't afford to lose sponsors.

At the same time, dirty Alberta oil runs a series of prime-time ads about how their revenue will "make a greener future".

Wow. That's darkly funny in an Orwellian way.

We've been deep in Orwellian territory for a century.

It's not pretending that matters, or the lack of it. I think if we stopped pretending, the course of world natural history would not incur any different path in its general progression.

1. in Orwell's "1984", everyone suffered. These days the tendency appears to be fewer and fewer suffering.
2. "Big brother watches you" in Orwellian theory is happening, with the facilitation of the internet, but the information is NOT used to enhance people's torture, instead, it is used to hone the knowledge of shopping demographics.
3. Orwell had three countries in the world, constantly warring with each other. We have many countries, of which many, many never ever have warred in the last 50-60 years.
4. In Orwellian dystopia, people don't have sex. That's about the only prediction that is applicable to today's status quo.
5. Children don't turn in their parents to authorities as they do in Orwellian dystopia.

"We've been deep in Orwellian territory for a century" is a trendy, cheap, and baseless utterance.
