mIRC help

Having trouble getting in to the Philosophy channel, I am newly registered and eager to start chatting. I have registered my nick but when I /join#philosophy I get an odd message. (have to adjust so forum doesnt think it is a link.)

You need to identify to a registered nick to join that channel. For help with registering your nickname, type "/msg NickServ(AT)services,dal,net help register" or see (website)

Havnet used mIRC in about 10 years so I am sure I have forgot something. I have joined the /philops channel hoping to receive help there as well

Have you registered your nickname with DALnet or only with the Forums? DALnet requires it's own, separate registration process. /msg NickServ@services.dal.net help register will give you some instructions on how to register one.

Sometimes a registered nick may be needed to enter and participate in #Philosophy for example when the channel has been set to +R.

If that happens and you get the message you need to identify BEFORE you enter the channel . /msg NickServ@services.dal.net IDENTIFY should do the trick.
