Is it possible we need to get really serious about nonproliferation?

That was quite an interesting article Braininvat. What a curious hobby!

Of course as the author of the article points out, the hard part is the refinement of uranium ores.

I guess that we are in the hands of the United Nations Security Council regarding non-proliferation.

But isn't it a shame that in the 21st century we still can't live together peacefully on this planet and that civilised nations have to spend up to 30% of their budgets on 'Defence'. Not only that but within individual countries, large budget components also have to be allocated to local Law Enforcement.

Hmm. I suppose world level aggression comes back down to flaws in individual human-nature designs.

Yes, I thought it was a "curious hobby" too. But some good may come of it, if this guy heightens public awareness of how important it is to make sure all weapons-grade uranium is under maximum lock and key.

Considering the difficulties of actually making an atomic weapon, shouldn't we be more concerned about a 'dirty bomb'? Perhaps uranium should be classified as an extremely toxic substance that , 'oh-by-the-way', can also be refined to make nukes from.
