Angels & Demons by Dan Brown

Has anyone read this?

Angels & Demons is a bestselling mystery novel by Dan Brown. Published in 2000, it introduces the character Robert Langdon, who is also the principal character of Brown's subsequent, better-known novel The Da Vinci Code. It also shares many stylistic elements with the better known novel, such as conspiracies of secret societies, a single-day time frame and the Roman Catholic Church. The story involves a conflict between an ancient group, the Illuminati, and the Roman Catholic Church. A film adaptation is due for release on May 15, 2009.

I have a song with a sample of someone saying "I represent men of science. Men who like yourselves are searching for the answers. Answers to man's destiny, his purpose, his creator. For two millenia your church has dominated the quest for truth. You have crushed your opposition with lies and prophecies of doom."

I didn't know what it was from so I used google and found out. I was curious if anyone had read it and what their thoughts were on it.

Better Than DaVinci

Postby Longhorns2005 on October 29th, 2008, 12:46 pm

I read this book, and felt is is the best of Brown's books. This is the book where Robert Langdon(FM: DaVinci) makes his first appearence. During the previews to DaVinci, it says this book will also be made into a movie, and I hope it is.

I didn't read these books until later, after the hype settled down. Read Angels and Demons and thought it was great. Read the da Vinci Code and was very disappointed.

Longhorns2005,

I understand that the movie of Angel & Demons is supposed to come out next year.

Thanks for the feedback guys, if I ever take a break from non-fiction I'll have to pick this book up.

Angels and Demons is exciting and worth a read, even if it's not a beautifuly written book. It has lots of interesting stuff intergrated into the storyline, but I'm not sure how true all of it is. It's definately better than The da Vinci Code, which I wouldn't recommend.
