Top Six Modern Physicists

Postby hyksos on October 22nd, 2018, 1:06 am

Recently saw an article on the internet with the title "Top Six Modern Physicists". I was disappointed in it. Thought I would ask around here.

Who are your top 6 living physicists?

Witten is the only one I can think of. I’ve always liked Penrose too, but he’s not strictly a physicist.

If we’re including contributions to popularising physics then I’d certainly include Susskind and Kaku ... as for their actual contributions directly to physics I’m not really in any position to comment.

I was very interested theoretical physics over 20 yrs ago. I’ve not really had my finger on teh pulse since then so I’d love to hear who is considered the current “Golden Child” of physics. Back then Witten was the name on everyone’s lips.

Juan Maldecena fits the bill.

Nima Arkani-Hamed would be the other one, weighing in at age 46.
