Don't see why not.
The fist article that came up is eight years old.

Thank you Serpent. I really should pay more attention, the headline just jumped out at me while I was looking for something else. To be honest I just glanced at the article and didn't even bother to get a timeline on it as I thought it was bull. I guess I will have to look more deeply into the subject now, as it is one I find most interesting.

There is a lot of weird science around.
To me, the most exciting aspect of this technology is its applications to prosthetic and other devices for the handicapped.

I'm not at all sure the implant is necessary, but some people seem to like their microchips, which have been around for a while.

Hmmm, I recall watching a tv programme several years ago, where researchers placed a microchip amongst living brain cells which were being cultured in a dish. They discovered that the brain cells connected to one another and formed a network, however what was really bizarre, is that the brain cells also connected to the chip.

"Maybe the concept of cyborgs isn't as fanciful as I thought it was !" Its early days yet, but if the technology for human/machine interfaces really takes off. Then computer/machine enhanced humans could become a very real possibility.
