I like music, and I like to find out bands got their names.
An ancient civilization believed the universe evolved in stages. The first stage was the orchid, the second was the SOUNDGARDEN, the third was the universe that we know and live in.
In WWII, all countries with air forces reported strange little unidentified flying globes of light. They would come over the horizon at great speed towards the aircraft, then join formation beside the craft. The men said that they felt like they were "being watched". Some would hover in air near dogfights (battles of flying aircraft). The Japanese called them FOOFIGHTERS.
I had an idea about the engineering behind these apparitions. I believe they were temporary, became unstable and dissipated, like ball lightning.
At the circus,a man spins a number of plates on sticks.
In particle colliders, a series of magnets fire in sequence to move particles in chosen paths.
If all the magnets were in one spot, intricate in the patterns and energies, clouds of particles can be moved into "spinning plates". The correct arrangement of these can form chains, patterns, that seem to act like conductors, resistors, logic chips. Eventually more exotic formations could make cameras, transmittors, propulsion, navigation...
This devise with many magnets would form a magnetized ball of many spinning particles, release it, and form another. These "foofighters" would perform a fuction, then wind down and self destruct. (like I do).
